Some Facts about High speed Limits and Car Accidents
The 2014 statistics revealed that quite some people died in car accidents or after that due to injuries from car accidents in the US. Failure to use the seatbelts, careless driving, speeding, and bad weather, are some of the reasons there are many car crashes in the US. There is an exponential increase in the rate at which car accidents occur in the US and this has raised a lot of concern among the government officials and the ordinary citizens.
Sources have it that 28 percent of the total wreckage reported in the US are linked with speeding. It is essential to note that there are rules which are set aside to regulate the road safety measures while using the roads. Since 2005, speeding has been observed and reported as the primary factor leading to the increasing number of people losing their life due to several car accidents. Many people normally speed when they are trying to escape from bad weather conditions, or when they are trying to catch up with time when they are late for work.
To keep drivers within the certain speed limit, road signs are normally strategically placed on the roads to aid in controlling the rate of car crashes in the US. Many people normally tend to ignore such signs since they believe to know what they are doing and hence, no one should interfere with them and so, they end up in the wreckage. It is not right to assume that most road accidents are caused by the poor roads since the government is always keen to ensure that all roads are maintained on a regular basis.
According to reliable sources, 35 percent of the fatal accidents took place on the roads which were not highways. This one implies that there is the tendency by the vehicle owners to over speed in areas that they are not being monitored by the traffic police. Conversely, only 29 percent of the accidents in the US take place along the highways. It is due to the availability of strict surveillance of main roads that the drivers tend to pay attention to the speed limits.
On the other hand, it has been reported that most of the car accidents today experienced were not due to speeding. Along the highways, vehicles move in high speed, and this means that the slow drivers are most likely to cause car crash hence leading to injuries and or deaths. More than 9,262 people lost their lives in the same way in 2014. It is safe to conclude that not all lives are lost due to speeding, but some happen when certain speed level is not met on the highways.
